It’s the holiday season, which means it’s once again time for Propllr Gives Back, where each member of the Propllr team has the opportunity to donate funds to a cause of their choice and have them matched by the company.
Here’s a look at the causes we’re supporting this year.
I'm supporting Your Ethiopian Professionals (YEP) this year. They provide a vital network for Ethiopian professionals across the US, fostering mentorship, leadership, and networking opportunities. Through their programs, YEP strengthens both personal and professional connections, empowering individuals to thrive and grow while building a sense of community.
Doctors Without Borders brings medical care to people in crisis in more than 70 countries. Their work has always been important. But 2024 has seen an alarming surge in humanitarian crises around the world, from genocide in Gaza to deadly monsoons in India. I'm proud to support Doctors Without Borders in their efforts to deliver critical care to those who need it most.
I finally took up fly fishing this summer after years of thinking about it. Doing so has made me appreciate just how great it is to live near a river (every town should get one!). No, the West Branch of the DuPage River may never see a beautiful rainbow trout, but it has no shortage of hungry smallmouth bass.
And while my catches haven’t always been impressive, walking in the water has been a joy. I've seen muskrats, beavers, deer, hawks, heron, turtles, and more, all finding a home in and along the river. To protect my town’s little river and those I've not yet fished – something that is particularly urgent these days – I'm pleased to donate toAmerican Rivers.
Just a couple blocks from where I live, the Friendship Center offers access to food and vital resources for communities on Chicago's northwest side. There's almost always a line outside when I pass, which is a reminder of how much their services are needed – and how lucky I am to be in a position to donate.
The Door County Land Trust is committed to preserving the natural areas of Door County, Wisconsin – a beautiful place that my family and I have come to think of as a second home over the past few decades.
This year, I ran the New York City Marathon in support of the Alzheimer's Association, the largest nonprofit funder of Alzheimer's research in the world, because the disease has impacted my family and other people close to me.
The Alzheimer's Association helps people with the disease and their caregivers by offering a 24-hour help line, resource groups, educational programs, advocacy work, and research funding.
This year I'm supporting No Kid Hungry because food insecurity is common and hunger is a problem we can solve. One in five kids struggles with hunger, but through school meals, grants, funding, and advocacy, No Kid Hungry is working to end child hunger in the United States.
